My Favorite Sustainable Clothing Brands
One of my values is supporting sustainable, female-founded, and ethical brands. I am working on creating a more minimalist lifestyle, which includes minimizing waste and creating a capsule wardrobe that makes me look great, feel great, and rest easy knowing I’m doing my part for the planet.
Agua by Agua Bendita
Everything about this brand screams splurge, but darn it if their clothes aren’t absolutely stunning. This Colombian brand produces clothing in small batches, uses recycled water bottles to produce their swimwear, and utilizes digital printing techniques on all their collections. Plus their sale section is 12/10 (I got the below dress for my 30th on super sale).
Athleta
Not everything is sustainable, but as a certified B-corporation, they’re committed to balancing profits with people and the planet. They are starting to incorporate more recycled materials into their products.
AYR
This online shop is lesser known but they have the most gorgeous, high quality staple items to create a capsule wardrobe. They produce in small batches to minimize waste.
Boden
One of my favorite aspects of Boden is that they LOVE color. Some of Boden’s items are a little too “grown up” for me, but it’s absolutely worth sifting through to find some stunning pieces made from sustainable materials. The brand also donates to climate-forward charities.
Christy Dawn
This shop is full of beautiful pieces that are made with sustainable materials. Their classic Dawn dress is flattering on literally everyone, and their Deadstock collection is made from leftover/excess fabrics.
Cuyana
I’ve been eyeing this hat for 2+ years. The whole vibe of their website is amazing and full of high quality pieces you can use for a lifetime. They produce in small batches, almost every single item is made with sustainable materials, and host an extensive second life program to keep textiles out of landfills.
Everlane
I’ve been an Everlane customer for years and truly love them! Their curvy denim is second-to-none, and their sweaters, tops, tennis shoes, and jumpsuits are all amazing. They have incredible transparency by displaying all the costs associated with production and manufacturing, employee salaries, and shipping. And, they use sustainable materials for many of their designs.
Farm Rio
Perfect for amazing, bright, occasion-wear and made in Brazil from sustainable materials defined by their principles of circularity (reducing waste through upcycling), culture, and nature.
Lululemon Like New
This website is dedicated to certified renewed/refurbished Lululemon pieces. Rather than buying new, purchase items at a reduced price and give gently used clothes a new life!
Poshmark
A great place to find a specific second-hand piece you’re looking for at a great price. It definitely requires sifting through, but it can be the holy grail. You can also sell your gently used goods through Poshmark, which helps your wallet and helps keep your closet from overcrowding.
Quince
I’ve been hearing more and more about this brand recently – not only for their sustainable materials and manufacturing practices, but also for their classic capsule wardrobe pieces.
Reformation
Perfect for weddings (as a guest or a bride!), special events, and fantastic everyday streetwear, Reformation uses sustainable materials and has been certified climate-neutral since 2020.
Rent the Runway
RTR is hands-down, no contest, the BEST place to find occasion wear for a special event. Spend less on a show-stopping dress that doesn’t take up space in your closet and can be worn again by someone else!
Senreve
My first (and only) true splurge in my life was this incredible vegan leather bag (it holds all the things and turns into a backpack!). Senreve makes small-batch bags that are intended to last a lifetime, ensures ethical production practices for employees, and minimizes water waste throughout the manufacturing process.
Sezane
I’ve spent many hours swooning over their stunning knitwear for years now and can’t wait to add a couple of their sweaters to my wardrobe. Another B-corporation, 75% of their clothing is made with eco-friendly materials and they donate a significant portion of their profits to impactful charities.
Summersalt
These gals don’t just make swimsuits – I have an incredible reversible jacket, a great sweater, and of course this amazing colorful two-piece made with recycled materials (last season they partnered with Rifle Paper Co., which was the suit I got!).
